Works on canvas relating to the Australian landscape and mythical stories. This series commenced before my printmaking period of 1999 to 2003 and has continued to the current period.
BUNYIP'S LAMENT

Height: 125cm Width 100cm Depth: 3cm
Inspired by the mythical story of the bunyip in the billabong and an earlier similar smaller canvas work 'Bunyip in the Billabong' 1997. During this period, I was living on a property in Northern NSW and drawing inspiration from my surroundings for a series of works.

PASSAGE
Mixed media on canvas
Height: 125cm Width 100cm Depth: 3cm
An aerial perspective of the Diamantina River in flood viewed from a light aircraft gave me the inspiration for this work. I also wanted to capture the subterranean image of a woman rising to the surface (inspiration came from reading the Greek Mythological story of Persephone rising from the underworld and the heralding of spring).

BLUE LADY SERENADE
Mixed media on canvas
Height: 95cm Width 75cm Depth: 3cm
The focus for this work has been drawn from the ancient Greek mythological tale of the young maiden Persephone portraying aspects of the four seasons of nature.
This work explores the psychological aspects of mythological stories analogous to today's society and our perception of femininity and beauty.

FLOODGATE
Screenprint collage on canvas
Height: 122cm Width 92cm Depth: 3cm
The flooding of Brisbane in January 2011: at first it was put down to the wrath of Mother Nature. A raging torrent of dirty-brown floodwater after a freak downpour was to blame, or was it? The flooding may be the result of water released from the Wivenhoe dam to avoid a possible collapse. Floodgate visually explores the hypothesis of events surrounding the flooding; each square of paper represents a part of the jigsaw and comprehension of the event.
